Exporting and deploying sitemaps

Once you have refined the URL list in the Editor, Flowpane generates the sitemap set.

Export

  • Download .xml.gz — compressed and ready to upload
  • Preview XML — view before downloading
  • Copy XML — copy to the clipboard

Sets larger than 45,000 URLs are split automatically into several files with a sitemap index.

Deploy from Flowpane

Publishers and Admins can click Deploy generated set in the Workbench header to push the files to your server over SFTP or FTP using the credentials in Site settings → Deployment. See Site settings.

Deployment writes only the generated sitemap files. It refuses to write robots.txt or any of the other fixed governance files. After deploying, run a scan so Flowpane observes the live result, add or confirm the Sitemap: line in robots.txt, and submit the sitemap in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools yourself; Flowpane does not submit on your behalf.
